Age 84, of Stanley, NY, formally of Attica NY, passed away peacefully at home, on July 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 6, 1942, in Brockton MA, son of the late Reverend Frank R. Doore and Eleanor Pepper Doore. Winston would earn a degree in education in teaching and taught fifth and seventh grades at Attica Central School. He went on to receive a C.A.S. in school business administration at SUNY Brockport. Winston loved his time as an administrator working at Byron-Bergen Central School, Canandaigua City School District, and Bath-Haverling Central School before retiring in 2002. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964.
Winston’s greatest joys in life though were the relationships he shared with his family and friends. He was a great provider for his family and couldn’t have been prouder of what his children and grandsons had become. Winston was a loyal friend who was known for being a man of great integrity and strong faith. All his life, Winston had enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hiker, hunter, and fisher. He also loved animals and visiting Cape Cod.
Winston is predeceased by his parents, and his brother, Nelson R. Doore.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Barbara Yarrington Doore of Stanley, NY; his daughter, Pam Doore of Stanley, NY; his son, Daniel James Nelson (Sue) Doore of Stanley, NY; his grandsons, Thomas Jacob Doore and Benjamin Winston Doore; brother-in-law James (Margaret) Yarrington; his nieces and nephews; Tracey Doore, Charles (Haley) Yarrington, Graham (Bennett Cartner) Yarrington, and Julia (Ben) Hartley, Chris (Dani) Hannay, grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica NY.
