William R. Bell

Age 83, of Warsaw, passed away on August 2, 2021 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

He was born July 30, 1938 in Independence, NY son of the late William I. and Florence Drew Bell. Bill was employed for many years with the Dohler Jarvis Company in Batavia prior to his retirement. He attended the Wyoming Methodist Church in Wyoming, NY.

Bill was a devoted family man. He loved spending time in the outdoors; walking in the woods and bird watching. In earlier years, he also enjoyed hunting.

He is predeceased by his sons, William R. Bell and Thomas J. Bell.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Woodley Bell; his children, David (Annette) Bell of Batavia, Shannon Smyers of North Tonawanda; his siblings, Norma (John) Frederick of Byron, Richard “Butch” (Jane) Bell of North Carolina, Linda (Craig) Warnock of Tacoma, Wash.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his stepchildren, Donald (Sherri) Hulme, Jr. of Warsaw, Tim (Cheryl) Hulme of Florida, Daniel (Jan) Hulme of Pulaski, Mark (Sue) Hulme of Pennsylvania, Allen Hulme of North Chili, Andrew (Kathleen) Hulme of Pavilion, Lorri (Art) Crater of Warsaw; his former spouse, Judy Foley of Tonawanda; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Kathleen (Dick) Benzin, Joyce (Terry) McCann and Nancy (Les) Wiers.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, August 14 at 1 PM at 3129 Dick Road, Warsaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of Wyoming County Animal Shelter, 4380 Route 19, Silver Springs, NY 14450.
