Age 77, of Perry, NY passed away on November 27, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 18, 1948, to William and Sylvia (née Kowaliszn) Zicaw. He later moved to Canada, where he spent much of his childhood before moving to Castile, NY. He was a graduate of Alfred State College.
Bill got an early start to his career raising beef cattle. After graduation from college, he worked for John Deere before forming Zicaw Brothers Excavation business with his brother, Tom. Bill continued to be a much sought after excavation site project manager with his expertise taking him to jobs as far away as Colorado. Even in retirement, Bill continued to work part time and enjoyed being on a job site running an excavator or bulldozer.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sylvia Zicaw; and brother, Thomas.
He is survived by his loving partner of forty-nine years, whom he married in September, 2025, Kim A. Wilcox, and numerous close friends who will miss him dearly.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held in spring of 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wilmot Cancer Center at www.urmc.rochester.edu/give or Home Care and Hospice, 115 E. Main St., Allegany, NY 14706.
