Thomas C. Matteson, Jr.

Age 57, of Silver Springs, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2026.

He was born on July 15, 1969, in Warsaw, son of the late Linda Grasby Matteson, and with his passing he’s reunited with his high-school sweetheart and his first wife, Angela Kay (Smith) Matteson, Thomas was a graduate of Oakfield-Alabama high school, class of 1988. He worked as a farmer for many years with Lamb Farms in Oakfield, he held a few other odd jobs over the years before going to work at Creative Food Ingredients in Perry. Thomas was a huge racing fan both Nascar and dirt track, he was also a huge football fan, He was big into bowling known as “Tom The Bomb” in the bowling community, Thomas had a calling he couldnt ignore dedicating most of his life to volunteer firefighting, as a former member of the Alabama Fire Department and the Oakfield Fire Department and most recently as a current member of the Silver Springs Fire Department.

Thomas is survived by his daughters, Samantha (Aaron) Bafford, Katie (Edward) Sawyer, Courtney Matteson; his sons, Thomas (Katie) Matteson III, Jacob Matteson; his sister, Kelli (Scott) Bliss; his brother, Chris Matteson; as well as his best friend Jessica Ramsey, eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; many close friends.

No services are to be held at this time. A celebration of Thomas’ life will be held at a later date.
