Raymond J. Wilkie Sr, age 84, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026 at the Wyoming County Community Skilled Nursing Facility. Ray was born in Warsaw, a son of the late John (Wilkey) Wilkie of Perry and the late Stephana (Stella) Zasowska of Perry.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie L. Hulme and very recently, his son, Raymond (Jody) Wilkie, Jr.
Ray enjoyed playing the guitar, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and his favorite, most memorable, story was being mistaken for Waylon Jennings on a family trip to Dollywood in Tennessee.
Ray served in the US Air Force. Upon his return home he had several jobs in factories including the box factory in Warsaw and the Robenson Appliance plant in Castile. After which, he worked in construction for many years, primarily as a mason, ran a small farm, helped out with his son’s tree service, and then retired from Markin Tubing after a thirty-year career there.
Survivors include his three daughters, Valerie (Joseph) Putney of Silver Springs, Rachel Wilkie of Batavia, and Jennifer (Luis Valle) Wilkie of Auburn, seven grandchildren, Kyle, Shenandoah, Terry, Heather, Tyler, Ashton, and Cheyenne, and several great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life on June 7, 2026 at 2:00 at the Putney residence in Silver Springs. Ray will be laid to rest in a private family lot.
