Age 83, of Gainesville, passed away on February 6, 2026, at the Orchard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Medina, NY.
He was born on December 18, 1942, in Buffalo, son of the late Roger and Carolyn Pettigrew Barlow. In 1963, Ray enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for four years before being transferred to the Naval Reserve for two more years. After leaving the service, Ray married Carol Smith, his loving wife of fifty-six years. He worked as a corrections officer at Attica Correctional Facility and Wyoming Correctional Facility. Ray enjoyed campfire, boating, fishing, hunting, cooking, and taking road trips. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and was a member of the Blue Knights. Ray was also a member of the Wiscoy Rod and Gun Club. Most of all though, Ray loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ray is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Harriet Barlow and Step- Father Alex Sharon
He is survived by his wife Carol Barlow; his children, Jennifer (Earl) Chandler, Carolyn (Ray) Reifsteck, Raymond (Chena Carlin) Barlow Jr.; his grandchildren, Chelzie (Scott) Speta, Zachary (Ashley) Chandler, Elexius White, Kerstynn (Darnell Clay-May) Reifsteck, Trenton Reifsteck, Carmen Barlow, Alecisa M. Barlow, Caitlyn Barlow, Brooklyn B, Ethan Wilson, and Aaleigha Marshall; his great grandchildren, Kiel, Scott Jr., Zoey, Dominic, Annalynne, Calleigh, Adalynn, and Raidyn, Maddison; his brother, Tim (Charlotte) Barlow; his nephews, Shane, and Travis and many more nieces and nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 11AM – 1PM at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Ray’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 1PM. Burial will be held at a date to be determined in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gainesville Fire Department, 2 East St., Gainesville, NY 14066.
