Randy James Smith, 71, of Silver Springs, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2026.
Born on March 2, 1955, in Warsaw, NY, Randy was the son of the late Paul Smith and Rosemary Carney. He was the devoted husband of Diane Smith, with whom he recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He is survived by his children: Ryan (Angela) Smith of Canandaigua, Rachael Smith of Rochester, Joel (Natalie) Smith of Webster, and Julia (Mark) Ippolito of Penfield. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Dylan, Madelyn, Emilia, and Evan Smith; Jacqueline, Brooklyn, and Quinn Smith; and Gianna and Rosanna Ippolito.
He is also survived by his brothers, Chris (Gail) Smith of Charlotte, NC, Scott (Debbi) Smith of Webster, and Gus Smith. Randy was predeceased by his parents; his father- and mother- in-law, Ken and Joan Flint; and his beloved grandson, Dylan, whose memory remained forever close to his heart.
Randy worked at Morton Salt in Silver Springs for 47 years. In retirement, he was able to continue sharing his lifelong love of sports by serving as a softball umpire for the past 10 years.
Above all else, Randy’s greatest joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with them and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. One of his favorite routines was making his nightly rounds to check in on each of his grandchildren.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 26th, from 3pm – 7pm at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home in Warsaw, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, at 10am at St. Michael’s Church in Warsaw, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Springs.
