Priscilla Haddleton Ten Hagen

We are sad to announce the passing of our dear mother, Priscilla Haddleton Ten Hagen, on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at her winter home in Spring Hill, FL. In her final days, Mom was surrounded with love by her children and one of her granddaughters. She passed in Peace and comfort and with Faith that the Glory of Heaven awaited her.

Mom was born on May 25,1931, the second of two children of Hugh and Esther Haddleton of Mechanicville, NY. She graduated from high school in 1948 and went on to what is now the College of Human Development at Syracuse University. While there she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and enjoyed skiing with friends on snowy weekend days in central New York. She graduated from Syracuse with her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952.

After college, Mom moved to Warsaw, NY to work for Wyoming County Cooperative Extension as a Home Agent. It was in Warsaw where she met and married our Dad, Henry, in 1954. They were married for just shy of 50 years before Dad passed in April 2004. Together they had five children – Henry, Susan, Hugh, William, and Johanna.

Mom had a fulfilling life at home as a wife and mother, at work, and at play. As a mother, she experienced the joy of seeing her children grow up, get married, and give her grandchildren whom she adored. She spent most of her work life as a 4-H Extension Agent for Wyoming County Cooperative Extension, and at different times also worked for the Wyoming County Department of Social Services. At play, she had many interests and hobbies. She passed on her love of skiing to most of her children at an early age. In 1994, Mom and Dad became snowbirds, dividing their time between their home in Warsaw, NY and Timber Pines, a lovely retirement community, in Spring Hill, FL. In no particular order, Mom loved and took great pride in her flower garden and was a member of the Warsaw Garden Club, she loved and was quite a good Bridge player (belonging to many different Bridge groups over the years), she sang in the United Church of Warsaw choir for many years as well as for the Timber Tones, a singing group in her Florida retirement community. She also enjoyed antiquing, puzzles (especially Cryptoquotes), the Bridge column, PBS, and Bald Eagle cams.

Mom especially loved her family, all her many friends, and her cat Max. She was especially looking forward to seeing her two grandsons get married in 2026. She was gregarious and had no problem starting a conversation with someone whether they were family, friend, or someone she was meeting for the first time. Mom was universally loved, had a fabulous self-deprecating sense of humor, and had an immensely warm and big heart. Perhaps the quality that defined her most was her full-throated and continuous laugh that consumed much of her conversation.

Mom is pre-deceased by her son Henry, her grandson Andrew, her husband Henry, and her grandson Jordan Rosen. She is survived by her sister Kay Keller of Syracuse, NY; daughter Susan Rosen of Spring Hill, FL; her son Hugh of Warsaw, NY; her son Bill (Rene) of Skillman, NJ; her daughter Johanna Pegram (Chip) of Greensboro, NC; her granddaughter Meredith Rosen of Tel Aviv, Israel; her granddaughter-in-law Katelyn Rosen of Norwalk, CT; her grandson Derek Bingham of Raleigh, NC; her grandson Ryan Bingham of Raleigh, NC; her granddaughter Rebekah of New York, NY; her great grandson Asher Rosen of Norwalk, CT; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, August 23rd at the United Church of Warsaw. Arrangements for the service are being made by Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, it is Mom’s wishes that donations be made to either the United Church of Warsaw or to the Nature Center at Letchworth State Park.

It is with great Faith that we give our mother to God in Heaven. We love her so much and our hearts will always be filled with her spirit.
