Age 92, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
Pat was born in Warsaw on June 16, 1934, a daughter of the late Riley Guy Wheeler and Ruth N. Sweetheimer Wheeler.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Warsaw, where she had warm memories of wonderful Sunday school teachers. In later years, she moved her membership to the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw, where she enjoyed the fellowship of a caring congregation and served as the church secretary for several years.
Pat graduated in 1952, from Warsaw High School and immediately went to work in the Wyoming County Clerk’s office at the courthouse.
In 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Leo, and they enjoyed fifty-four years together.
Pat worked in the Wyoming County Clerk’s office and auto bureau for five years before her first child was born. Later with her children in school, she did volunteer work in the office of the American Cancer Society and the chaplaincy program at the Wyoming County Community Hospital.
For many years she was employed at the Warsaw Public Library; a job she enjoyed, being an avid reader and her love for books. Here she made many lasting friendships.
Pat loved her family deeply and treasured time spent with them.
She enjoyed working in her flower garden, walking, sewing, traveling with Leo and many happy years with her Tuesday lunch group.
Pat is predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Leo Simard; her brother, Norman Wheeler; her sister-in-law, Ginny Wheeler.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Roy) Gardner; her sons, Daniel (Sue Gardner) Simard, and Richard Simard; her granddaughters, Bridget (Charles) Guarino, and Stephanie (Travis Fowler) Simard; her great-grandsons, Connor (Bree Kus) and Cameron Guarino.
Friends may call on June 28, 2026, from 12 – 2pm at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Private burial will be held following visitation at Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, 6 West Court St., Warsaw, NY 14569 or the Warsaw Public Library, 130 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
