Mona M. Kenyon, 70, of Attica, NY, formerly a long-time resident of Prescott Valley, AZ, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY after a short illness.
Mona was born in Cuba, NY on January 2, 1956 to the late Joan M. (Kenyon) Varkoly (late Joseph) and the late John M. Kenyon. Mona graduated from Attica Central School in 1974 and from Cazenovia College with a degree in Equine Studies in 1976. She volunteered at “Horse” Camp at Camp Wyomoco in Varysburg, NY and worked for many years at Watson Homestead in Painted Post, NY, Mona was employed at Dunkin’ Donuts in Batavia, NY, and at Fountain of Life Fellowship in Prescott Valley, AZ. She was a devoted Christian and her faith was very important to her. She had a lifelong love of animals, especially horses and loved to travel. She traveled to Scotland and around the United States. Nothing was more important to Mona than family and she was devoted to her family.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jarrod Daniel and her brother, John M. (Lou Ann) Kenyon.
Surviving are her treasured sisters, Mary (late George) Laird of Varysburg, Marlene (James) Loomis of Castile, beloved brother Kenneth (Peggy) Kenyon of Bradenton, FL, and an uncle, David Griggs of Holley also survives. Mona leaves a legacy of nieces and nephews - Genevieve, also Mona’s Goddaughter, (Christopher) Griesbaum of Buffalo, Steven (Terra) Kenyon of Pavilion, the late Christopher (Mary) Kenyon of Cheyenne, WY, Peter (Summer) Laird of Chaffee, Rebecca (Philip) Vasile of Silver Springs, late Jason (Becky) Kenyon of Florida, Adam (Sylvia) Eschenlauer of Maryland, Kenneth Kenyon II of Bradenton, FL, Sheri (Daniel) Brandes of Jamestown, Charity Anderson of Calais, ME, Christopher (Heather) Laird of Alexander, Angel (Jacob) Schmidt of Dansville, and many great-nieces and nephews, one great-great niece, and many cousins. Mona also leaves behind many friends who became family to her including Cindy (Gary) Appleton of Warsaw and Harold (Hal) (late Christa) Fischer of Prescott Valley, AZ.
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Castile United Church of Christ on April 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials can be made in Mona's memory to the Wyoming County SPCA, 808 Creek Road, Attica, NY 14011.
