Mary E. Rinehart

Age 87, of Silver Springs, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, after a brief stay at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

She was born on January 6, 1938, in Wethersfield, the daughter of the late Basil and Eleanor Gross Wolcott. Mary graduated from Warsaw Central School, class of 1956. After high school, Mary worked at the Glen Iris at Letchworth State Park where she met her soul mate, Gary R. Rinehart. Mary was devoted to her family and friends; she was a beloved wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. Mary, Fred, Mom, Granny, was often referred to as “the glue” that held the family together. She was a consistent, stable figure willing to help anyone who needed support over the years.

Mary was the Wolcott Family Society Historian for decades, proud to continue the legacy of the family name. Mary’s sense of community lead her to be part of numerous local boards, including the Town of Gainesville Public Library Trustee, Elmwood Cemetery, and active in supporting the Silver Springs Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Mary could be seen walking around Silver Springs and enjoyed knowing all the happenings of the village.
