Joan (JoAnn) Gardner Copeland

Age 81, of Gainesville, passed away on September 14, 2025 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

She was born on June 26, 1944 in Warsaw, NY to the late Charles N. and Bertha Mae McCall Gardner. Joan married the love of her life, Everett C. Copeland on August 12, 1960. Throughout the years she worked at Ames Knitting Mill, WT Grants, Big N, and drove for Hill Top Industries. Joan also drove truck with her husband Everett for Landstar Inway. She had foster children in Genesee County and provided homecare for patients of the Rochester Psychiatric Center in her home. Joan also, had 2 foreign exchange students, which became her kids as well. Joan, along with her husband Everett, was a member of the Caravan for Cancer for 25 years.

Along with her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Everett, who passed away on December 28, 2001; her siblings, Charles Gardner, Catherine Swartz, Robert Evans, and Hubert Gardner; half siblings, Carol Wright, David Smathers, Russell Smathers, and Cathy Zelinch; brother-in-law, Gordon Klump; sister-in-law, Judy Gardner and brother-in-law, Richard Wright.

She is survived by, her children, Wanda (Mike) Caryl of Batavia, Everett C. (Brenda) Copeland, Jr. of Castile, Roxanne (Curt) Baker of TX, Doug (Krista) Copeland of Gainesville; her siblings, Richard (Lynda) Gardner of Bliss, Donna Klump of Warsaw, Betty Jennings of PA, Shirley Truax of Nunda; half-brothers, Gary Gardner, George Gardner, Clayton Gardner; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren.

Friends may call Thursday, September 18th 2025 from 11am to 1pm at Robinson And Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Joan’s funeral service will be held immediately following at 1pm. Private burial will take place in Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gainesville Rescue Squad, 2 East St., Gainesville, NY 14066.
