Jean M. Ernst

Age 91, a resident of the Livingston County Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY, formerly of North Java and West Seneca, passed away on September 28, 2025 at the nursing facility.

She was born April 12, 1934 in Dansville, NY, daughter of the late Otto, Sr. and Jennie Porter Kuhn. Jean was a devoted homemaker and mother to her children and in her later years became an avid dancer.

Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Keith Carmichael, her second husband, Robert Ernst and her significant other, Donald McLaren, her son, Malcolm Carmichael, grandson, Isaac Evans and sister, Joanne Smeal.

Surviving are her children, Anne (Doug) Evans of South Carolina, Cathy (Charlie) Tarey of Wyoming, NY, Dena (Keith) Bathgate of Tennessee, Jayne (Doug) Olin of Louisiana, Brent (Nancy) Carmichael of Tonawanda, Brock (Cheryl Lewis) Carmichael of North Java; twelve grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her brothers, Otto Kuhn, Jr. of Linwood, David (Sue) Kuhn of Dansville; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. Private burial is in Union Park Cemetery, Wethersfield Springs, NY. Memorials may be made to the Livingston County Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, 11 Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510 in appreciation for their loving and compassionate care for Jean in her final years.
