Age 79, of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2026, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
He was born on February 20, 1947, in Barberton, OH, son of the late Dale and Martha Franks Woodford. Shortly after graduating high school, Jack proudly served in the U.S. Navy for seven years during the Vietnam War. When Jack returned home, he became a sheriff’s deputy with the Summit County Sheriff’s Department in Akron, OH. After seven years with the sheriff’s department, he got a job working as a corrections officer at Attica Correctional Facility. Jack would work at numerous prisons throughout his career and would retire in 2009 after nearly twenty-six years in corrections. After retirement he volunteered at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility and was active in TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).
Jack is predeceased by a son, Michael Woodford, who passed away in 1997; his brother, James Woodford; his sister, Judi Zirinski.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than fifty-two years, Linda Woodford; a son, James Hampton; his grandson, Joshua MacConnell; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, May 11, 2026, from 11am-12pm at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Following visitation, a graveside service with military honors will be held at Warsaw Cemetery.
