Of East Aurora, passed away on March 20, 2026, at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo.

He was born on June 22, 1943, in Rochester, NY, son of the late Maxwell and Dorothea Stout. After graduating high school, Jerry would attend Fordham University where he received a bachelor’s degree in history. He would further his education by attending the Syracuse University School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. In between his schooling, Jerry would serve in the U.S. Army from 1966-69 eventually gaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was also a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for his time in Vietnam from September 1967 - August 1968.

Jerry had a very distinguished professional career and after receiving his law degree, he joined Charlotte Smallwood-Cook’s private law practice in 1972 and worked there until 1993. During his time at Smallwood-Cook’s, Jerry was a Law Clerk for the Honorable Jeremiah J. Moriarty, Court of Claims from 1973-74. He served as a part-time Assistant District Attorney for Wyoming County in 1973, and from 1984-91. He then served as the Assistant District Attorney for Wyoming County from 1991-93. Jerry became the full-time District Attorney for Wyoming County in 1994 and would hold that position until 2011. He was a former member of the New York State District Attorney’s Association, a member of the New York State Bar Association, and a member and past president of the Wyoming County Bar Association.

Jerry was also an active member in the communities he lived in. He was a former member of the Holy Family Parish in North Java. He was a member of the Warsaw Central School Board of Education from 1974-79 and from 1981-86, serving as president from 1985-86. Jerry was on the Wyoming Foundation Board of Directors from 1976-81 and from 1983-88, serving as president from 1983-88. He also served on the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors as the Town of Orangeville Supervisor for nearly two years. Jerry was a member of the Iroquois Trail Boy Scout of America Executive Board from 1980-85, a member of the Warsaw Republican Committee, and a member of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He was a member of the Silver Lake Yacht Club, loved being outdoors, and was an avid Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Yankees fan as well.

Jerry is predeceased by his parents; and his son, Timothy J. Stout.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Dreyer of East Aurora; daughter, Collleen Knapp, his sons, Christopher M. Stout of Oregon, Andrew E. (Christi) Stout of Huntersville, NC, Peter J. (Blair) Stout of Raleigh, NC, Patrick R. (Annissa) Stout of Tucson, AZ, Harry Lambright of Warsaw; his grandchildren, Calder Knapp, Veda Knapp, Breyden Stout, Finnigan Stout, and Gretchen Stout.

No public services will be held at the request of the family. Burial in Franklinville Cemetery, Franklinville, NY.
