Age 73, of Gainesville, NY, passed away on March 23, 2021 at Buffalo General Hospital.

He was born March 16, 1948 in Fillmore, NY, son of the late Percy and Madeline Sweet VanName. Gary was employed for thirty-five years with Letchworth State Park. He was a longtime member of the Silver Lake Sportsmen’s Club. Gary enjoyed watching bowling on television and camping in the Adirondacks with family. He was known for putting on great chicken barbecues for many years.

Gary was predeceased by his wife of thirty-six years, LouAnn Van Name who died March 12, 2019 and his sisters, Donna Durfee, Valerie Beil and Nancy Brouillette.

Surviving are his children, JoAnna (John Luft) Greenwood of Maine, Kelly (Kevin) Armison of Castile, Angela (Kevin Dunne) VanName of Gainesville, FL, Michael VanName of Gainesville; his step children, Brianna (Darrell) Stone of Gainesville, Donald (Shannda) Learn of Shinglehouse, PA, Edward Learn of Bath; seventeen grandchildren; one great grandchild; his siblings, Ronald VanName of Portageville, Roger (Marlene) Beil of Pavilion, Linda (Jim) Armison of Fillmore, Robert (Becky) Beil of Fillmore, Wendy Wallace of Perry, Jimmy (Rebecca) Beil of Missouri, Frances Blevins of Virginia, James (Diane) VanName of Newport, NY, Dianne (Sam) Sally of Cassville, NY; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, March 27 from 11 AM – 12 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where a memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 12 PM. Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Pike at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Silver Lake Sportsmen’s Club, 3563 Silver Lake Rd., Perry, NY 14530. Due to Covid-19 precautions, the funeral home is limited to 50% capacity and facemasks are required.
