Donald L. Vanbuskirk

Age 86, of Halvorsen Rd., Portageville, died December 24, 2013 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

He was born December 28, 1926 in Hume, NY, son of the late Melvin and Margaret Hull Van Buskirk. Donald was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was a medical corpsman and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and attended the New Beginnings Church in Hermitage. Donald owned and operated Carol?s Farm Market in Portageville from 1978 to 1996 and he served as Town Justice for the Town of Genesee Falls from 1971 to 1988. He loved country & western and square dance music.

Donald was predeceased by his wife Nina J. VanBuskirk who died in 2009.

Surviving are his daughters, Carol Getty of Portageville, Doreen (Roger) Henry of Weedsport; his grandchildren, Lisa (Scott) Speta of Fillmore, Sara (Justin) Klitzke of Nebraska, William John Getty III of Washington state, Jennifer (Jeff) McEwan of New Jersey, Robert Buckland of Lockport, Robin Buckland of Lockport, Cheryl Niece of Buffalo, Michael Guy, Rhonda Guy and Jeffrey Guy; several great grandchildren; his brother, Forrest Hamer of Belfast; his sisters, Avanell Stocum of Belfast, Mary Greek of Black Creek; a special aunt, Crystal (Thomas) Swanger of Portageville and his cousins, Vonnie and Harlan Morse of Portageville. He was the father of the late Donald Lee and Ronald Guy.

Friends may call Monday, December 30 from 10 AM ? 12 PM at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where a service will be held immediately following calling hours at 12 PM. Private burial will be in Alger Cemetery, Hume. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221 or alz.org.
