Donald Drew was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who appreciated all of life’s grand adventures. On April 26, 2026, with family by his side, his kind soul left this world to be with the love of his life, Joy Drew.
Don was born to Harold and Elizabeth Drew on December 10, 1934 in Oakfield, NY. He and Joy married on March 23, 1957, devoting 65 years to one another. Don and Joy’s love and devotion created a beautiful family consisting of their three children, nine grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Don enjoyed creating long-lasting, beautiful memories with all of his loved ones.
A proud member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 70 years, Don retired from IBEW Local 1249 after many years of service with hilarious stories of adventure across the state that he’d often fondly recount and many lifelong friends. After retirement, Don devoted time to the art of woodworking.
Besides his family, one of Don’s favorite parts of life was enjoying the splendor of nature, especially in New York and West Virginia. From hunting to fishing to simply sitting in solitude on the porch of his cabin he built with his family, Don took joy in appreciating all facets of nature. If he wasn’t spending time in nature or with his family, he was enjoying a Western. Don’s wonderful wit will be remembered through the varied pearls of wisdom he shared with all throughout his life. His humor and kindness were ever-present in all facets of his long, adventure-filled life.
Don was preceded in death by: his wife, Joy Drew, son, Joe Drew, father and mother, Harold and Elizabeth Drew, siblings Dick Drew, Harold Drew Jr, Florence Fladie, Bill Drew, Priscilla Costello, son-in-law, Timothy McGrath, and beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Don is survived by: daughters Donna (Carl) Minor, Diane (Randy) Scott, grandchildren, Jennifer (Jonathan) Prince, Casey (Audrey) McGrath, Corey (Alicen) McGrath, Cody McGrath, Amanda Scott, Ashley (Barret Buehler) Drew, Cassidy (Zach Hutton) McGrath-Hutton, Steele (Hayley) Drew, Carleigh (Keagan Scott) Minor, many great grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at The Village Park in Silver Springs, NY on May 23rd, 1-5pm.
