David W. Pope

Age 77, of Wyoming, NY, passed away on October 11, 2019 at Buffalo General Hospital.

He was born December 23, 1941 in Warsaw, son of the late Walter and Marian Cook Pope. Dave was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and the US Air Force Reserves. He was employed for many years as a glaze maker at Lapp Insulator Company in LeRoy. Dave was a longtime member of the IUE-CWA union and held several offices.

Dave was a forty year member of the Bostian-Rowe American Legion Post in Wyoming, NY as well as being a member of the Beachhead Veterans Club in Alexander and the Loyal Order of the Moose in LeRoy.

Dave was an avid auto racing fan and was a loyal Buffalo Bills fan and season ticket holder. One of his greatest joys was planning and throwing parties for friends and family.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-one years, Linda Reisdorf Pope whom he married on December 7, 1988; his children, Dennis Pope of Attica, Zack Pope of Attica, Adam “Ogie” (Galadriel) Pope of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Pope of Wyoming; step children, Mindy (Mike) Herrmann of Perry, Robert (Kendal) Dunbar of Warsaw; sister, Ardith Bookmiller of Attica; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clifford Pope, Donald Pope, Richard Pope and Leanore Myers.

Friends may call Friday, October 18 from 2 – 6 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. An American Legion memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 6 PM at the funeral home. Following visitation and service, friends and family are invited to Pope’s garage at 137 School St., Wyoming for Dave’s final party. Private burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wyoming Hook & Ladder Co., PO Box 36, Wyoming, NY 14591 or Warsaw Rescue Squad, PO Box 22, Warsaw, NY 14569 or Honor Flight Rochester, PO Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692.
