Age 93, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
He was born May 11, 1933, in Riga, NY, son of the late Harold and Marion Pimm Embling. Clyde proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954-56. On May 29, 1954, he married his loving wife of nearly seventy-two years, Audrey Baker Embling. Clyde received a Business Degree at Rochester Business Institute, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine in Farmington, and his master’s degree at Bangor Seminary. Clyde earned his Doctorate in Theology from Drew University. Clyde’s life was faith-driven and he will be remembered for his compassion and love toward all people. He became pastor at the Castile United Church of Christ in 1963 and for 33 years touched the lives of countless individuals. Clyde enjoyed being an active member of his community. He belonged to the Castile Community Club, the Castile Fire Department & Rescue Squad, the Masons, and in later years joined the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors. Clyde was the author of two books, was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed mowing his lawn and traveling. As accomplished as Clyde’s life was, he cherished most of all, the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clyde is predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Julia (Gordon) Brodie, Dallas (Opal) Embling, William Embling; his brother-in-laws, Charles Fletcher, Robert Dix, and Wayne Burlingame, and his son-in-law, Donald M. Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his daughters, Cynthia (Stephen) Hadley, Mary (Thomas) Reagan; his foster son, Rob Alan (June) Stratton; his grandchildren, Allison Olaode, Colin (Emily) Reagan, Elizabeth Reagan, Kristen (Mariela) Baez, special exchange student granddaughter Olena (Michael) Spencer; his great-grandchildren, Riley (Tim) Wright, Caleb Diedreck, Willow Reagan, Claire Diedreck, Lucas Baez, Anna Spencer, and Jack Spencer; his siblings, Helen Fletcher, Marjorie Dix, Dorothy Burlingame, Lorraine (Jack) Hendrickson; sister-in-law, Gertrude Embling; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 1-3pm at the Castile United Church of Christ, 4 Washington Street, Castile, NY. Clyde’s memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 3pm at the church. Burial is at Grace Cemetery, Castile, following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Castile United Church of Christ, 4 Washington Street, Castile, NY 14427 or the Union Congregational Church, P.O. Box 123, Churchville, NY 14428.
