Age 94, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
She was born October 26, 1931, in Attica, NY, daughter of the late Elon and Marian Richert Bey. After graduating from Attica Central School in 1948, Carol made a career in business management. She would work for various employers over the years but she enjoyed her time the most at Warsaw Central School. Carol enjoyed crocheting and travelling the world with her husband, Jerome, and usually some close friends as well. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Kitchen Konference. Carol loved her family too, especially the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passion though was music and she was both a student and a teacher of the art. Carol was an accomplished musician and might be most well known in the community for playing the piano at multiple events, such as concerts, weddings, and in church, where she was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw.
Carol is predeceased by her loving husband of 74 years, W. Jerome Smith; her parents; her sister, Shirley Sprowl; her nephew, David Sprowl.
She is survived by her daughters, Merry Lou (Robert) Holley, Linda (Cheryl) Smith, Jaci (Robert) Mix; her grandchildren, Sarah Schneckenberger, Kaitlyn (Dan) Istas; her great grandchildren, Jakob “Evie” Schneckenberger, Anna Schneckenberger, Andrew Istas, Olivia Istas; her nieces, Debbie Rush, Cindy Rawley, Sylvia Duttweiler; her sister-in-law, Sibyl Smith.
