Barbara Griffith Moag

Barbara G. Moag, 88, of Pearl Creek, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Barbara graduated from Pavilion Central School in 1956 and, later in life, from Empire State College in 1995. She was a homemaker and worked as a library aide at Pavilion Central School.

Affectionately known as “Grandma Barbie” to far more than just her own grandchildren, Barbara had a special love for children and was a friend to many throughout the community, especially in Pearl Creek. She was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and New York Yankees. Over the years, she attended countless sporting events and activities, always there to support her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the students of Pavilion Central School.

Barbara is survived by her five children: Marcy (John) Noble of Pavilion; Timothy (Sarah) Moag of Pavilion; Marianne (Michael) Philie of West Friendship, MD; Terrence (Kathryn) Moag of Loudonville, NY; and Thomas (Amie) Moag of Horseheads, NY.

Grandma Barbie will be deeply missed by her 12 grandchildren: Christopher (Jennifer) Noble, Kitty Noble, Kathleen (Craig) Wolfley, Griffin (Ashley) Moag, Rella (Kyle) Getty, Austin (Christian) Moag, Mathieu (Kelsey) Philie, Morgan Philie, Rory Moag, Ryan (Katie) Moag, Delaney Moag, and Rileigh (Cameron) Monks.

She was also cherished by her 16 great-grandchildren: Emilie, Adelaide, Isla, Charlotte, Beau, Annabelle, Quin, Cael, Leif, Maeve, Grady, Ford, Jack, Neil, Mason, and Teagan.

Barbara is also survived by her brothers, James (Polly) Griffith and Michael (Patricia) Griffith; her sister-in-law, Sharon Griffith; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Neil Moag. Barbara and Neil met in kindergarten and shared 57 years of marriage before his death in 2013. She was also predeceased by her parents, Veronica and Worth Griffith, her brothers Roger, Robert, Thomas and John Griffith and sister Mary Weber.

Barbara’s family is especially grateful to her caregivers, Kate Rudgers, Michele Goulet, and Susan Schmidt, whose patience, kindness, and compassion made it possible for Barbara to remain at home.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Pavilion, New York, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Following the Mass, the family will receive friends in the parish hall from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A family graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Wyoming Cemetery.
