Angelo J. Lamitina, Sr.

Age 95, of Gainesville, NY, passed away on July 14, 2025 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

He was born January 22, 1930 in Warsaw, NY son of the late Philip and Mary Salamone Lamitina. Angelo was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps having served during the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer while also working for many years for Keeler Construction in Albion, NY. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local 435 and the Hunt-Stout American Legion Post, Lamont, NY.

In earlier years, Angelo was a Little League umpire and was Scoutmaster of the former Boy Scout Troop 52 in Pike, NY. He loved gardening and preserving his harvest. Angelo is fondly remembered for his spaghetti, homemade cheese and bread, his apple pies and homemade wine.

Angelo was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn Appleby Lamitina who died August 15, 2008 and whom he married November 8, 1952; his son, Angelo Lamitina, Jr., six brothers and one sister, stepson, Douglas Beach.

Surviving are his wife, Madeline Murtha Beach; his children, Gary (Vickie) Lamitina of Gainesville, Richard “Fonz” Lamitina of Gainesville, Peter (Jane) Lamitina of Warsaw; grandchildren, Amy Browne, Taylor Lamitina, Travis (Taylor) Haddon; great grandchild, Sierra Browne and one on the way; stepchildren, Robert (Brenda) Beach of Warsaw, Geoffrey Beach of Arcade, Sharyn (Scott) VanDeGenachte of Buffalo; step daughter-in-law, Carol Beach of Warsaw; step grandchildren, Zachary Beach, Justin Beach, Nouvelle VanDeGenachte, Logan VanDeGenachte.

There are no calling hours. Angelo’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Church, Warsaw. Private burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Warsaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joint Veterans Council, 36 Center St., Suite B2, Warsaw, NY 14569.
