Volney R. Spencer, Jr.

Age 70, of Varysburg, passed away November 16, 2021 at ECMC in Buffalo.

He was born December 2, 1950 in Warsaw, NY to Volney R. Spencer, Sr. of Attica and the late Ethel Flint Spencer. Volney was a lifetime farmer of 60 years. Farming was his passion. He was a hardworking, honest man who was a straight shooter. If you were his friend he’d always have your back and would give you the shirt off his. He had a knack and treasured being able to leave a smile behind and lighten the mood with every one he met.

Volney was a wonderful husband and father to his three deeply loved sons, who were his proudest and greatest accomplishment, and to his two daughters (not daughter-in-laws) that they brought into his life. He was a wonderful grandpa, known as “shaggy dog” grandpa to Tyler and McKayla who were the sparkle in his eyes, and a wonderful brother and uncle.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sharon Schwedt Spencer; his sons, Josh (Shirley) Spencer, Aaron (late Emily) Spencer, Evan Spencer; grandchildren, Tyler and McKayla; siblings, Peg (Roland) Cox, Jim (Alfie) Spencer, Betty Raponi, Deb (Tim) Head, Barb Jamalkowski; mother-in-law, Irene (late Roger) Pawlak Schwedt; brother-in-law, Alan (Robin) Schwedt; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, November 27th from 2-6 PM at Robinson And Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. There will be a celebration of life and luncheon on Sunday, November 28th, from 12-4 PM at the North Java Fire Hall, 4274 Route 98, North Java, NY.
