Russell H. Watson

Age 88, of Lake St., Perry, died peacefully at his home on May 9, 2014.

He was born July 14, 1925 in Warsaw, son of the late Lloyd and Myra Holmes Watson. Russ was a proud veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II. He was a graduate of the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. Following his education, Russ worked at the Eaton Funeral Home in Perry for 20 years. He then purchased the funeral home in 1967 and owned and operated Eaton-Watson Funeral Home for over 25 years. In his retirement Russ continued to serve families with the Harmon-Watson Funeral Home in Castile and the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home in Warsaw. Russ was a true professional who gave his all to the families he served and to his community. He was a past member of the Rochester Genesee Valley Funeral Directors Association and the New York State Funeral Directors Association.

Russ served on the Perry Town Board for many years and was a former longtime member and past President of the Perry Rotary Club. He was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Perry and was a member of the Constellation Lodge Free & Accepted Masons in Perry for over 50 years. Russ was an Eagle Scout, an avid golfer and a former member of the Silver Lake Country Club.

Russ was predeceased by his beloved wife, Norma who died in 2006 and by his beloved son, Gerald Watson who died in 2007.

Surviving are his children, Douglas (Kathy) Watson of Bedford, TX, Nancy (Sam) Monteleone of Perry, David (Debbie) Watson of Charleston, SC, Patricia (Ray) Bzduch of Perry, Greg (Missy) Watson of Perry; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Christopher Watson and brother of the late Chester Watson.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 13 from 2 ? 4 & 7 ? 9 at the Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile. Russ? funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 14 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Burial with military honors will follow in West Perry Cemetery. A veterans service will be held Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the funeral home followed by a Masonic service at 6:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Honor Flight Rochester, Inc., PO Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692 or the First United Methodist Church of Perry, 35 Covington St., Perry, NY 14530.
