Robert J. "Bob" Caton

Age 92, of Gainesville, NY, entered into his heavenly home on October 23, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

He was born December 13, 1928 in Rochester, NY, son of the late John and Moorilda Kirkpatrick Caton. Bob worked for many years in the metal shop at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester. He was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He had also worked as an operator with Clarence Sand & Gravel.

Bob was a longtime active member of the Rock Glen Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School teacher. Family and friends will fondly remember his generosity and willingness to help others. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop but above all, he was a dedicated family man.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Sherman, who passed away July 20, 2016 as well as his sisters-in-law, Mary Sherman and Myra Sherman.

Surviving are his children, Duane (Sue) Caton of Wethersfield Springs, Larry (Ellen) Caton of Yreka, CA, Beth Caton of Perry; grandchildren, Steven (Sarah) Caton, Nathan Caton (Renee Broderick), Rachel (Pedro) Barinas, Genny (Tanner) Atkinson, Samuel Caton; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Downing of Coeur d’Alene, ID.

Friends may call Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 1 – 2 PM at the Rock Glen Baptist Church where Bob’s memorial service will be held immediately following at 2 PM.
