Richard Lee Wilson

Richard Lee Wilson (Dick), age 77, residing his whole life in Wyoming NY, passed away at home on January 1, 2022 surrounded by his family.

He had a strong faith and loved the Lord. His hope was in heaven and we are looking forward to seeing him there one day. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Wyoming NY and then an attender of Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church, Warsaw NY. He was instrumental in overseeing the construction of the ministry center at Valley Chapel and was dedicated to making sure things were done right.

He was drafted by the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and after basic training in Fort Dix, NJ he was appointed to the Security Agency in Arlington VA from 1965-1967 where he proudly served his country.

He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing. He was a skilled carpenter, building several houses and barns around the surrounding areas. He bred and raised Morgan horses, did crop farming and restored a 1979 Chevy Malibu.

He enjoyed music: blues, jazz, gospel and hosted the Celebrations Gospel Group from VA for several summers as they played at area churches and the Wyoming County Fair, Pike NY.

He was a member of the Wyoming Hook & Ladder Company, actively participating and devoting many hours of service over the years. He also drove the antique Model T fire truck in parades and won many awards.

He worked for UPS for 23 years and made lots of lifelong friends through his encounters of delivering packages.

His family was his greatest joy and he was always ready and willing to offer a helping hand to them and many others in need.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Monica (Nourse).
