Peter Gozelski

Age 81, of Gainesville, NY, passed away at home on June 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 29, 1939 in Huntington, NY, son of the late William and Johanna Strauss Gozelski. Pete was involved in agriculture and farming most of his life. He was a member of the Empire Potato Growers Association and raised Black Angus beef cattle for many years. He was a farm tractor enthusiast particularly International Harvester, Massey Ferguson and Oliver. He enjoyed logging and was a great supporter of the organization, People, Inc. In earlier years, Pete enjoyed hunting and antique collecting.

Pete was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Isidore’s Parish, St. Mary’s church site in Silver Springs.

Surviving are his wife, Judy; children, Johanna (Doug Berwanger) Gozelski of Gainesville, Mary Avella of Lafayette, CA, Melinda (Leonard) Mecca of Lake Worth, FL, Barbara (Vern) Brooks of LeRoy, Peter (Kim) Gozelski, Jr. of Walnut Creek, CA, Luke Gozelski of Amherst; grandchildren, Kassandra Johnson, Leonard Mecca, Jr., Francesco Avella, Giovanni Avella, Giuliano Avella, Antonio Avella, Sophia Blore, Brittney Starr, Ryan Lowden, Drew Gozelski, Zack Gozelski, Johanna Gozelski; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Jacob and Noah Johnson, Emmalie and Lillyenne Starr and Parker Bisnett-Lowden; siblings, George (Nancy) Gozelski of Geneseo and Joe Gozelski of Castile. He was the brother of the late William Gozelski, James Gozelski and David Gozelski.

Friends may call Friday, June 18 from 2 – 7 PM at St. Isidore’s Parish, St. Mary’s church site, Church St., Silver Springs where Pete’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 19 at 11 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Silver Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gainesville Fire Department, Gainesville, NY 14066 or the Arcade Fire Department, 145 North St., Arcade, NY 14009.
