Norman J. “Jim” Hare

Age 82, of Castile, died March 2, 2016 at the East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw.

He was born May 12, 1933 in the Town of Gainesville, NY son of the late Martin and Edna Prentice Hare. Norm was a proud veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He was employed for many years at Lapp Insulator Company in LeRoy.

Norm was a former captain and long time member of the Silver Springs Rescue Squad and was a member of the Silver Springs Fire Department as well. He was an accomplished carpenter. He and his wife, Alfreda spent many years traveling to craft shows where they would sell their work. He also remodeled several homes over the years. Norm?s most cherished time however was spent with his family and friends. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and he loved spending time with them.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-nine years, Alfreda Dunning Hare; his children, Betty Jean (Jeff) Howard of Warsaw, James M. (Maura) Hare of Jamestown, NY, Brian (Darla) Hare of Warsaw, Sharon (David) Stone of Oregon, Lynda (Jason) Domenico of Colorado; step children, Lawrence (Dewey) Streeter of South Carolina, Andrew W. (Yvonne) Streeter of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Stanley Hare, Lawrence Hare, Vernon Hare, Kenneth Relyea and Lillian Hare Galton.

Friends may call Friday, March 4 from 4 ? 7 PM at the Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where his funeral service will be held Saturday, March 5 at 11 AM. A veteran?s memorial service will be held Friday at 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Silver Springs Rescue Squad, PO Box 117, Silver Springs, NY 14550.
