Martha R. Wick

March 14, 1943 — May 18, 2021

Martha R. Wick

Of Warsaw passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, following a short illness. She was born in Goussau, Switzerland on March 14, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Else and Karl Eschmann and sister to Elsi, Alice, and the late Karl, and Verena Eschmann – all in Switzerland.

Martha grew up on a small family farm near Goussau, Switzerland. She studied to be a secretary and met her future husband at the age of 16. Approximately 5 years later, on August 18, 1964, she married her husband, Hubert F. Wick. They were married 47 years until his death on September 22, 2011. Together they built a beautiful life for their family and each other. In search of the perfect farm and complimentary way of life they moved from Switzerland to Canada. They then settled in Wisconsin for 12 years, traveled back to Switzerland briefly, and finally, in 1980 settled in Warsaw, NY. Through hard work and good management, they grew their family dairy farm, Swiss Valley Farms, from 120 cows to today’s 1400 milking cows. They accomplished this with the inherited work ethic of their six children and wonderful relationships with their peers and business associates.

Martha had a warm and open heart, a kind spirit, sharp intelligence, and was always generous with her good fortune. She wasn’t only a wonderful mother, but also wonderful grandmother, and a great friend to so many people. She was very modest, thorough, honest, helpful, and always delightful.

Martha was incredibly witty -- even on her final day. People loved her and admired her strength, work ethic, cooking expertise, and her impeccable math skills. She loved to feed the birds, cared for her horses, her beautiful home, flower and vegetable gardens, and was always on call to make lunches and dinners for the field workers – lots of them!
She was proceeded in death by her husband, her siblings Karl and Verena, and her Grandson Sawyer Daniel Wick.

Martha was a devoted wife and mother and was cherished by her family. She is survived by her children: Hubert of Warsaw, Sandra (John) Lonsberry of Castile, Patrick of Warsaw, Andreas (Lorraine) of Warsaw, Marcel (Jessica) of Warsaw, and Michelle of Orlando, Florida. She was a dedicated Grandmother to 13 adoring Grandchildren: Kristine, Marcus, Joshua, Cheyanne, Andreas, Kathryn, Rachael, Carly, Allisyn, Ethen, Natasha, Kathleen, and Sullivan Wick.
