Margaret G. Mason

Age 90, of East Rd., Silver Springs, died July 16, 2013 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

She was born April 15, 1923 in the Town of Perry, daughter of the late Romanzo and Ruby Selden Brown. For over 40 years, Margaret operated the family farm with her late husband, Manley. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Silver Springs where she was a longtime member of the choir and also served as choir director and junior choir director. She also served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was active in the United Methodist Women. Margaret was a 75 year member of the Grange and was a member of the Mutual Friends Club in Perry and the Mary Jemison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Gainesville Public Library Board of Directors and served as an election inspector for the Town of Gainesville for many years.

Margaret was an avid reader and she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Music has always held a special place in Margaret?s heart and she was an accomplished and well known vocalist in the area.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Manley Mason who died in 2006.

Surviving are her sons, Allen (Trish) Mason of Silver Springs, Mark (Darlene) Mason of Cambridge, MD; her grandchildren, Andrea Mason, Jonathan Mason, Cora Mason and Ian Mason; her sister, Betty (Cal) Phillips of Silver Springs; her brother, Bill (Joyce Traxler) Brown of LeRoy; her sister-in-law, Margaret B. Mason of Warsaw. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Warner and Romanzo O. Brown II.

Friends may call Friday, July 19 from 4 ? 8 PM at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, July 20 at 1 PM at the First United Methodist Church, Church St., Silver Springs. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Castile.
