Leona Mae Lanpher

Age 89, a resident of the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw, formerly of Castile, passed away on October 15, 2017 at the nursing facility.

She was born November 8, 1927 in Bar Harbor, Maine daughter of the late Leon and Ethel Harriman Moon. Leona was a graduate of the Elohim Bible Institute in Castile in 1965. She then served alongside her husband in the pastorate for many years. She volunteered for many years at the Castile Christian Academy. Leona was a member of the Hume Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook and baker.

Leona was predeceased by her husband, George Lanpher, Sr.; her daughter, Sandra Lanpher and her grandson, Michael Lanpher, Jr.

Surviving are her children, Michael (Joy) Lanpher, Sr. of Castile; Christine (Chalmers, Sr.) Wolcott of Cohocton; George Lanpher, Jr. of Castile; her grandchildren, Brian Lanpher of Castile, Chalmers (Amy) Wolcott, Jr. of Hornell, Jonathan (Tammie) Wolcott of Fincastle, VA, Matthew (Sarah) Wolcott of Rotterdam, NY, Samuel Wolcott of Dansville; great grandchildren, Chalmers “Jordan”, Peyton, Grace, Madelyn, Lydia, Katie and Sarah; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, October 21 from 10 AM ? 12 PM at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where Leona?s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 12 PM. Private burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Castile. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon?s International, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251 or Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Elm & Carlton Sts., Buffalo, NY 14263.
