Jane Weeks Pond

March 2, 1934 — June 20, 2022

Jane Weeks Pond

Forever freed from the tenuous bonds of this physical life, Jane Weeks Pond passed on Monday, June 20, 2022. She left this world in the early morning hours of a cool, quiet June day, her ailing body and discordant mind already weary and drawn. It was her time.

Born on March 2nd, 1934, Jane was the only child of James “Junie” L. Weeks, Jr. and Hannah McCants Weeks, both of Columbia, SC. She was active in her high school and college social scenes, and in youth “Luther League” at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, SC. Jane earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC, and taught English in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Warsaw, NY. However her “life’s work” was her family–caring for her husband and two sons.

At 88 years young, Jane passed after a decade of living with Alzheimer’s Disease. But her family holds tight to memories of her love of education, history and the sweet importance of her role as family historian. In her honor, we would ask you to share your family story with someone you love.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her son, James Luther Pond (Niagara Falls, NY). She is survived by her husband, Walter Edward Pond, Jr. (Warsaw, NY), her son Walter Eric Pond and daughter-in-law Cindy (Caledonia, NY), and granddaughter Geneva Pond (Philadelphia, PA).

Prayers will be said for Jane during the Sunday Service at Trinity Episcopal Church, 62 West Buffalo St., Warsaw, NY, at 10:30am on June 26th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 396, Warsaw, NY, 14569.
