Frank Ernest Hollister

Age 72, of Warsaw, passed away on June 8, 2021 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

He was born July 9, 1948 in Warsaw, son of the late Lloyd and Genevieve Pethrick Hollister.

Frank was a proud veteran of the US Army having served in the Vietnam War. He worked as a corrections officer for twenty-seven years, retiring as a Captain at the Livingston Correctional Facility. Frank served as a Veterans Service Officer for over twenty years in both Wyoming County and Livingston County. He was a recipient of the Veterans Service Officer of the Year award presented by the American Legion New York District.

Frank was a longtime member of the Walter Klein Post American Legion in Warsaw where he served as Adjutant for many years. He was a member of the Bostian-Rowe Post American Legion in Wyoming, the Memorial Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, Warsaw and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #193.

Frank was a former longtime member of the Warsaw Fire Department and Rescue Squad and was a member of the Warsaw Volunteer Exempt Firemen. He was an avid hunter but Frank’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-one years, Linda Peters Hollister whom he married on December 27, 1969; his children, Frank J. (Roxanne) Hollister, Jr. of Perry, Sheila (Brian) Johnson of Fairfield, California; grandchildren, Corey (Kayleigh) Hollister, Christian Hollister, Andrew Hollister, Alexandria Lanni and Madison Lanni; his sister, Loletta Hollister of Warsaw; sister-in-law, Diane Hollister of Warsaw; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lloyd Hollister, Tom Hollister, Jean Brace Moden and Patricia Turkot.

Friends may call Saturday, June 12 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where a prayer service and a veteran’s memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 2 PM. A celebration of life with military honors will follow at 3 PM at the Wyoming County Veterans Club pavilion, 245 W. Buffalo St., Warsaw, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John J. Audubon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228 or the Wyoming County Joint Veterans Council, 5362 Mungers Mill Rd., Silver Springs, NY 14550.
