Dr. Elizabeth Benz Croft

Age 89, a resident of East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, formerly of Rochester, passed away on May 28, 2022 at the nursing facility.

She was born March 29, 1933 in Rochester, NY daughter of the late John O. and Dorothy Heath Benz. Dr. Croft was a 1950 graduate of Portville High School and a 1951 graduate of Rochester Business Institute. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1959 from the University of Rochester; Master of Arts degree in 1968 and her Doctorate in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Albany in 1985. She served for many years as a professor at both Finger Lakes Community College and Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Croft spent many years as an arbitrator and when she entered the field was one of only three female arbitrators in New York State. She also served as a member of the investigative team for the Attica Prison uprising.

Dr. Croft was devoted to her family. She took special interest in the activities and needs of all her nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit and her gift of hospitality. She was dedicated to her work but also enjoyed traveling extensively.

Dr. Croft was formerly married to the late Edward S. Croft.

Surviving are her siblings, Rev. Barbara (Ron) Mosher of Warsaw, Margaret B. Haley of Chili, Robert (Darlene) Benz of Texas, Linda McGuire of Warsaw, William C. Benz of Brockport; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, June 10 from 4 -7 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Dr. Croft’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 7 PM. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 11 at 11 AM at Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville, NY. Memorials may be made in Dr. Croft’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
