Beverly A. Pfeifer

Age 84, of Warsaw, passed away on January 26, 2020 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

She was born January 27, 1935 in Buffalo, NY daughter of the late John and Margaret Becker Kingston. Bev was a graduate of the Wyoming County Community Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 and was employed as a registered nurse at the hospital for forty years including thirteen years as supervisor of the Intensive Care Unit. In addition, she was in charge of the surgical recovery room for many years and was instrumental in setting up the cardiac rehabilitation program at the hospital. She also participated in the Women’s Health Study through Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston and Harvard Medical School beginning in 1976.

Bev was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. She was also a 60 year member and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Centennial Chapter in Warsaw. Bev volunteered as a poll worker for the Board of Elections for many years as well as the American Red Cross. She was an avid reader and an avid bowler and longtime member of the Monday Ladies Bowling League in Warsaw.

Surviving are her husband of sixty-three years, Gerald Pfeifer whom she married on September 1, 1956; her daughters, Leigh (Paul) Gardner of Herndon, VA, Tracy Wheeler of Prattsburg, NY; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Michelle Richau) Wheeler of Corning, Brittany (Joe) McKerlie of Bath, Patrick Gardner of Arlington, VA and Shane (Jennifer) Gardner of Reston, VA; her brother, John (Kathleen) Kingston of Prescott Valley, AZ; brothers-in-law, Gerard Cote of Attica and Paul (Cheryl) Pfeifer of Highland, CA; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jacqueline Cote and mother-in-law of the late Scott Wheeler.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warsaw Public Library, 130 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569 or the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw (Maintenance Fund), 6 W. Court St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
