Betty J. Beaumont

Age 91, a resident of Greenfield Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster, formerly of Marilla, passed away on September 6, 2021 at the nursing facility.

She was born August 1, 1930 in Perry, NY, daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth Higgins Beaumont. Betty received her bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She served for over forty years as a teacher in the Lancaster Central School District, primarily in fifth grade. Betty traveled the world, often times on teaching assignments. She was an accomplished wood carver. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. Betty was always on the go, even downhill skiing well into her eighties.

Along with her parents, Betty is predeceased by her siblings, Eugene (Mary) Beaumont, Robert (Thelma) Beaumont, Virginia Carberry, Seymour (Hazel) Beaumont, Herman Beaumont. Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

At Betty’s request, there will be no services. Burial will be in Leicester Cemetery, Leicester, NY. Memorials may be made to the Marilla Fire Company, 1950 West Ave., Marilla, NY 14102 or the Animal Friends of Wyoming County, 4380 Route 19, Silver Springs, NY 14550.
