Bruce L. Strathearn

June 24, 1948 - July 5, 2018


Age 70, of Dale, NY, passed away on July 5, 2018 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.

He was born June 24, 1948 in Warsaw, son of the late R. Leigh and Eleanor Buckout Strathearn. Bruce was a proud veteran of the US Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. He was employed for many years as a corrections officer at the Wyoming County Jail. In earlier years, he was active in farming. Bruce enjoyed collecting and showing off his tractor and classic car collections. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Bruce was a member and Commander of the Bostian-Rowe American Legion Post in Wyoming, NY. He was also a member of the Wyoming County Veterans Club and the Silver Lake Sportsmen’s Club.

Bruce was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte who died in 2003; his brother, John Strathearn and his sister, Elaine Hale.

Surviving are his loving companion, Mary Carlson; his daughters, Marci Strathearn of Alexandria, Virginia, Becky Strathearn of Dale; his grandchildren, Kash Strathearn, Ethan Grawe and Peyton Grawe; his uncles, Edward (Sue) Strathearn, Albert (Betty) Strathearn, Clayton Carlson all of Wyoming; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, July 6 from 6 – 9 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Bruce’s funeral service will be held Saturday, July 7 at 10 AM. Burial with military honors will be in Dale Cemetery. An American Legion service will be held on Friday at 5:45 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wyoming Hook & Ladder Company, PO Box 36, Wyoming, NY 14591.
