Virgil I. Vosburg

July 5, 1926 - August 19, 2013

Age 87, of Route 39, Castile, died August 19, 2013 at the East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw.

He was born July 5, 1926 in Pike, NY, son of the late Stanley and Eudora Hogle Vosburg. Virgil was a truck driver for John Sherman in Castile and then for many years with the Shisler Company where he received safe driving awards. He also worked for many years as a truck driver and equipment operator with Southview Farms in Castile and for the Town of Castile.

Virgil served as the Mayor of the Village of Castile in 1975-76. He was also active for many years with the Castile Fire Department and was a member of the Castile Volunteer Exempt Firemen. He was a member of the Rock Glen Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Winifred Walters Vosburg whom he married on April 23, 1949; his son, John Robert ?Jack? (Deborah) Vosburg of Silver Springs; his daughter, Linda (the late John) Nicastro of Silver Springs; his grandchildren, Bradley (Gail) Vosburg, Lindsay (Enis) Ocal, Katherine Nicastro and Kristen Nicastro; his great grandchildren, Audrey and Eli Vosburg; his sisters, Laurel Vosburg of Warsaw, Janice DeGroff of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Vosburg, Genevieve Butler and Verna McDonald.

There are no calling hours. Virgil?s memorial service will be held Thursday, August 22 at 7 PM at the Wyoming Baptist Church, Main Street, Wyoming. Private burial will be in Middle Reservation Cemetery, Castile. Memorials may be made to the Castile Rescue Squad, PO Box 338, Castile, NY 14427 or the Rock Glen Baptist Church, Route 19, Silver Springs, NY 14550.
