Lawrence L. Kelly

August 12, 1917 - November 16, 2018

Age 101, of Castile, passed away on November 16, 2018 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

He was born August 12, 1917 in Perry Center, NY son of the late Frank and Matie VanCise Kelly. Lawrence owned and operated Kelly?s Fruit Farm on Swyers Road in Castile for many years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II in Panama. He also worked at Foster Wheeler and Robb?s Apple Farm in earlier years and also served as a part time mail carrier.

Lawrence was the last surviving member of the Letchworth Civilian Conservation Corps Camp 23. He was a hard working man and a devoted husband and father. He loved fishing and gardening.

Lawrence was predeceased by his wife of over sixty years, Meta Rutherford Kelly who died in 2002.

Surviving are his children, Larry Kelly of Castile, Michael (Jill) Kelly of Gainesville, Ruth (Earl) Parkhurst of Gainesville, Gloria (Dwight) Baker of Gilmer, Tex.; nineteen grandchildren; fifty-two great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Alice Mae Kelly and Elaine Grace Kelly and was predeceased by one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Friends may call Saturday, November 24 from 12 ? 3 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Lawrence?s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 3 PM. Private burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Castile Rescue Squad, PO Box 338, Castile, NY 14427.

It has been many years since ive seen anyone in my extended family, but i remember the Kelly family reunions at Letchworth park as a child and seeing Great Uncle Lawrence and running around playing with him and my grandpa Kelly.
