Keith A. Granger

September 7, 1957 - January 5, 2020

Age 62, of Castile, passed away at home on January 5, 2020.

He was born September 7, 1957 in Warsaw, NY son of the late Lyman, Sr. and Bertha Beardsley Granger. Keith worked for the New York State Department of Corrections for twenty-five years, retiring as a Sargent in 2013. He is a member of the Castile United Church of Christ and the Castile Community Club.

Keith lived a life of service to his community. He was a member of the Pike Fire Department and was a past member of the Pike Rescue Squad. Keith is the current Supervisor for the Town of Castile and a member of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors. He is a former Mayor of the Village of Castile and in earlier years served as Mayor of the Village of Pike. He was a past member of the Letchworth Central School Board of Education. Keith is a member of the Triluminar Lodge #543 Free & Accepted Masons in Pike and is a past Master of the lodge. He also served as a past District Staff Officer.

Keith was a former assistant swim/dive coach and former assistant soccer coach at Letchworth Central School. He also spent many years as a high school baseball umpire.

Surviving are his wife of forty-one years, Annette Pirdy Granger, whom he married on June 10, 1978; his daughters, Nichole Granger of Alpine, TX, Angela (Rob) Griswold of Castile; his grandchildren, Breanna Griswold, Aiden Salzler, Sadie Griswold; his brothers, John (Pearl) Granger of Pike and Lyman, Jr. (Pam) Granger of Pike; his mother-in-law, Carol Pirdy of Castile and brother-in-law, Guy (Val) Pirdy of Castile; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Cynthia Quackenbush.

Friends may call Thursday, January 9 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. A fireman’s memorial service will be held Thursday at 6:30 followed by a Masonic service at 6:45 at the funeral home. Keith’s memorial service will be held Friday, January 10 at 11 AM at the Castile United Church of Christ (cor. N. Main & Washington Sts.), Castile. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Castile Rescue Squad, PO Box 338, Castile, NY 14427 or the Pike Rescue Squad, Pike, NY 14130.
