Gurney R. “Dick” Myers

September 7, 1935 - February 13, 2019

Age 83, of Dale, NY, passed away on February 13, 2019 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

He was born September 7, 1935 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Gurney and Katheryn Pierce Myers. Dick married the love of his life, Barbara Thompson on May 4, 1957. He worked at General Motors in Buffalo for several years before attending college at the State University of New York at Geneseo where he received his bachelor?s degree. Dick then taught and coached football and track for several years at Warsaw Central School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw.

Dick was a family man; always willing to help with projects. He went to Pennsylvania to visit relatives and visit the Mennonite Center tracing his family roots. Dick enjoyed trips west to visit by bus in early days and later by rail because of his aversion to flying.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years, Barbara Thompson Myers; his sons, James (Sharon) Myers of Solon, Ohio, John (Deanne) Myers of Carnelian Bay, Calif.; his daughter, Jackie (Joe) Moorhouse of Lake City, Pa.; his sister, Sandra Theel of Lockport, NY; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Bear Ridge Cemetery in Pendleton, NY at the convenience of the family.
