Gerald C. Swain

March 14, 1941 - January 14, 2020

Age 78, of Castile, passed away at home on January 14, 2020.

He was born March 14, 1941 in Shawangunk, NY son of the late Jesse and Gladys Stephens Swain. Gerald was graduate of Letchworth Central School and was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He worked for over thirty-five years at the Morton Salt Company in Silver Springs.

Gerald enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and camping with his family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Swain who died in 2013.

Surviving are his children, Debbie Skiver of Nunda, Duane (Mildred) Skiver of Bliss, Francis (Christy) Skiver of Olean, Carrie Unterburger of Bliss; twelve grandchildren; many great grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Bliven of Portville; his brother, William Swain of Portville; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, January 17 from 11 AM – 2 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Gerald’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2 PM. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Silver Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John J. Audubon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228-1198.

Jerry started work at Morton a week after I did. We worked together on the loading floor until I entered the service. Also attended our wedding fifty years ago. He was a great guy to work with and was a great guy . He’ll surely be missed. Rest in peace Ol’ Pal.
