Age 83, a resident of the East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, formerly of Linwood Ave., died peacefully May 5, 2010 at the nursing facility.
She was born February 10, 1927 in Batavia, NY, daughter of the late Daniel R. and Sarah Louise Stickney Metzler. She was employed for many years in the dietary department at East Side Nursing Home prior to her retirement in 1989. Zada was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw and was active in many church organizations over the years. She was a member of the Wyoming County Community Hospital Auxiliary and was a spiritual life volunteer at the hospital as well. She was an avid reader and sports fan and had a great love of music.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Blake who died in 1974.
Surviving are her sons, Gordon (Candace) Blake of Buda, TX, Scott Blake of Wyoming, NY, Dan (Marsha) Blake of Glenwood Springs, CO; her daughter, Tara (Richard) Longhini of Silver Springs, NY; her brother, Daniel Metzler of Rochester; her grandchildren, Will Blake, Ryan (Suzanne) Blake, Molly Blake, Eric Wellman, Patric Wellman, Jody Blake, Sara Longhini, Matt Longhini, Adam (Donna) Longhini; her great grandson, Angelo Blake.
Friends may call Saturday 1 – 2:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw (cor. of N. Main & W. Court Sts.) where a service will be held Saturday at 2:45 PM. Private interment will be at Wyoming Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, 6 W. Court St., Warsaw, NY 14569 or the East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund, 62 Prospect St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
