Age 98, of Irondequoit, died peacefully on December 14, 2011.
She was born February 4, 1913 in Hume, NY, daughter of the late John L. and Minnie Bell Beardslee Hotchkiss. She was employed as a receptionist for many years at the former McCurdy’s Department Store in Rochester. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold York, sisters, Maxine Latham and Pauline Bliss, and brother, Merlin Hotchkiss.
Surviving are her grandson, Dan (Pam) Miller of Hilton; her grand dog, Holly; her sons, Larry (Devon) York of Arizona, John (Lorraine) York of Texas; her sister, Velma Bliss of Castile; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; very special friend, Rose Avnet; dear friends, Kit Laing and Ann Adamson.
Friends may call Saturday 10 AM – 12 noon at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where a service will be held at noon immediately following visitation. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maple Grove Cemetery, 5773 School Rd., Castile, NY 14427.

Your grandmother/mother was a fiercely independent capable woman. She lived alone these many years, baking almost to the end. She was a real inspiration to both of us, someone you can be very proud of. We were proud to be her neighbor.
