Thelma J. Leonard

July 18, 1940 - November 25, 2017

Age 77, of Warsaw, passed away November 25, 2017 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.

She was born July 18, 1940 in Warsaw, daughter of the late John and Florence Moulton Van Buren. Thelma was employed for thirty-three years as a custodian at Warsaw Central School prior to her retirement in 1999.

Thelma was an avid bingo player and she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In earlier years, she enjoyed snowmobiling and was an auto racing fan.

Thelma was predeceased by her daughter, Tamara Uptegrove, her son, Tracy Uptegrove and her sister, Elizabeth Amburgy.

Surviving are her children, Thomas (Cathy) Uptegrove of Warsaw, Teresa (Skip) Dickes of Wyoming, NY, Terri (John) Arend of Avon; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; her brother, John (Theresa) Van Buren; her sister, Janette Duboy of Warsaw; nieces and nephews and her canine companion, Cinabear.

Friends may call Thursday, November 30 from 5 – 8 PM at Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where Thelma’s memorial service will be held Friday, December 1 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John J. Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY 14228-1198 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
