Richard R. West

June 30, 1933 - September 6, 2016

Age 83, of Attica, born June 30, 1933, son of the late John and Ella Glor West, passed peacefully on September 6, 2016 surrounded by the love of his closest family.

Richard was a retired Attica Corrections officer of 29 years, worked at Darien Lake theme park doing RV maintenance, an Attica VFW member, and an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his wife of 60 years, his children and his grandchildren at his cabin. Richard was a veteran of the US Army and served on the Attica Town Board for twenty years. He was a longtime member of the Attica Bowling League and was proud of having bowled a 300 game.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Slought West of Attica; sons, Brian (Jennifer) West of Alexander and Christopher (Angela) West of Lake City, PA; his five grandchildren, Miranda, Megan, Brian, Jr., Ethan, and Elanor; as well as many brothers and sisters, Everett West, Shirley (Richard) Holbrook, late Paul (Loretta) West, late Ruth (Francis) Bottone, late Raymond West, late Floyd (Rose) West, late Jim (Mary Jane) West, late John (Beverly) West and late Pauline West.

Friends and family may call Saturday, September 10 from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY where a funeral service will be held Sunday, September 11 at 2 pm. Memorials may be made to Attica Fire & Rescue, 11 Water St., Attica, NY 14011 or Immanuel United Church of Christ, Exchange St. Rd., Attica, NY 14011.
