Raymond D. Bowles

September 18, 1928 - April 21, 2010

Age 81, a resident of the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia, formerly of West Center Rd., Castile, died April 21, 2010 at the nursing facility following a lengthy illness.

He was born September 18, 1928 in Warsaw, NY, son of the late Raymond and Esther Bowles. For many years he owned and operated a dairy farm in Castile and then following the sale of the farm, he was employed by the Agway Company as a fuel oil truck driver for many years.

He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He was a long time member of the McKelton Post American Legion in Perry.

Surviving are his son, Mark Bowles of Angelica; his daughters, Christine (Michael) McNeil of Walworth, Susan Bowles of Jamestown; his grandchildren, Shamrock Duncan and John Czech; his brothers, Robert Bowles of Castile, William Bowles of Warsaw; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Thelma Freeman, John Bowles and Kenneth Bowles.

Friends may call Sunday 1 – 2 PM at the Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile where a veterans memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours at 2 PM. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry. Memorials may be made to a veterans organization of the donor’s choice in Raymond’s name or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1650 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620-3926.
