Age 93, of Hardys Rd., Town of Pike, died January 7, 2009 at the Wyoming Co. Comm. Hospital in Warsaw.
He was born July 29, 1915 in Genesee Falls, NY, son of the late Monroe and Maude Newcomb Flint. He was a self employed wood worker for many years. In earlier years, he owned and operated a dairy farm for 25 years. He was a 66 year member and past master of the Triluminar Lodge #543 Free & Accepted Masons in Pike. He also served as a councilman for the town of Pike for 49 years. An accomplished wood worker, he met regularly with other craftsman from the area. Mr. Flint was an active participant in the Wyoming County Fair and did restoration work on many of the buildings on the fairgrounds. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and he enjoyed turning wood, gardening and playing euchre. He had a genuine desire to serve others whether in public service or through his many acts of kindness.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Lunamae Flint, whom he married December 22, 1945; his children, Penny (Rob) Simpson of West Bloomfield, MI, Randy (Kathy) Flint of Asheville, NC, Cathy (Peter) Swales of Springville; his grandchildren, Nathan (Janelle) Flint, Anthony (Casey) Flint, Robert Simpson III, Elizabeth Simpson, Rebecca (Orlando) Ferri, Abigail Swales; his brothers, Howard (Carol) Flint of Stafford, Ellwyn (Ruth) Flint of Sweet Home, OR; his sister-in-law, Jane Flint of Lake Wales, FL; several nieces and nephews and many good friends. He was the brother of the late Arwood, Glenn and Roland Flint.
Friends may call Sunday 3 – 7 PM at Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile. A Masonic service will be held Sunday at 7 PM at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 PM at Pike Community Church, Pike, NY. Burial will be held at a later date in East Koy Cemetery, Pike. Memorials may be made to Triluminar Lodge #543 F&AM, Pike, NY or the Pike Community Church.
