Neal X Ferguson

October 8, 1927 - March 4, 2018

Age 90, of Orangeville, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at his home on March 4, 2018.

Neal was born on October 8, 1927 in Warsaw, NY, son of the late George D. and Frances Ferguson. He was a teacher at Letchworth Central School for 30 years and owned and operated Ferguson Christmas Tree Farm in Orangeville. He also served in the United States Marine Corps as a Private First Class from 1945-46.

Neal was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association, Cooperative Extension, the NYS Christmas Tree Association, hosting the state meetings in 1976 and 1986, and was a past member of the Orangeville Town Board.

Neal is survived by his wife of 68 years Sylvia Jane Shaffner Ferguson; daughters, Nana (Robert Mase) Ferguson of Castile, Marilee Ferguson of Gates, Peggy (Max) Fisher of Warsaw, Chrisabeth Heffner of Virginia Beach, VA, Tracy (Steve) Schirmer of Baldwinsville; son, Lowell X (Ellen) Ferguson of Spencerport; sister, Wilma Thoms of Clio, Michigan; brother, George D. (Corrine) Ferguson, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Friends may call Saturday, March 10 from 1-3 PM at Robinson And Hackemer Funeral Home Inc., 246 North Main St., Warsaw, where Neal’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 3 PM. Burial will be made at a later date. A reception following the funeral service will be at the Castile United Church of Christ, 4 Washington St., Castile, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzhiemer’s Research Association, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
